En el a\u00f1o 2010, Jonathan M. Cullen y Julian M. Allwood, investigadores de la Universidad de Cambridge, elaboraron un interesante mapa del flujo global de la energ\u00eda<\/strong>. El nuevo mapa energ\u00e9tico mundial representa la foto actual de las diferentes transformaciones energ\u00e9ticas en el antropoceno<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> y la evoluci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica desde la revoluci\u00f3n industrial<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

El nuevo mapa energ\u00e9tico mundial<\/h2>\n

En este nuevo mapa existen cuatro columnas: fuentes de energ\u00eda, tecnolog\u00edas de conversi\u00f3n, tecnolog\u00edas pasivas y servicios finales<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Probablemente, la caracter\u00edstica m\u00e1s innovadora del nuevo mapa energ\u00e9tico mundial es la propuesta de considerar las tecnolog\u00edas de conversi\u00f3n y las tecnolog\u00edas pasivas<\/strong> como eje central del flujo de energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n

>><\/strong> Las tecnolog\u00edas de conversi\u00f3n<\/strong> (motores de combusti\u00f3n, motor el\u00e9ctrico, quemadores, calentadores el\u00e9ctricos, intercambiadores de calor, sistemas de refrigeraci\u00f3n e iluminaci\u00f3n y dispositivos electr\u00f3nicos) se caracterizan por trasformar las fuentes de energ\u00eda primaria (petr\u00f3leo, biomasa, gas, carb\u00f3n, nuclear o renovable) as\u00ed como la electricidad y el calor en energ\u00eda \u00fatil.<\/p>\n

>><\/strong> tecnolog\u00edas pasivas<\/strong> (veh\u00edculos, sistemas automatizados, hornos industriales, sistemas de vapor, sistemas de agua caliente, aparatos electrodom\u00e9sticos y los espacios climatizados e iluminados) configuran la parte final de los sistemas tecnol\u00f3gicos que proporcionan un servicio final y que presentan perdidas de energ\u00eda en forma de calor.<\/p>\n

Otra caracter\u00edstica innovadora del nuevo mapa energ\u00e9tico es que cada cadena del flujo de energ\u00eda termina en los denominados servicios finales<\/strong> como el transporte de personas y mercanc\u00edas, las infraestructuras, la alimentaci\u00f3n, la higiene, el confort t\u00e9rmico, las comunicaciones y la iluminaci\u00f3n, en lugar de los habituales sectores econ\u00f3micos como el transporte y los sectores industrial, residencial y comercial. Asimismo, la fabricaci\u00f3n de productos industriales como el acero, los productos qu\u00edmicos, la transformaci\u00f3n de minerales, el papel, los alimentos, el aluminio y otros exige el empleo de sistemas automatizados, hornos industriales y sistemas de vapor.<\/p>\n

Por ejemplo<\/strong>, en este nuevo mapa energ\u00e9tico el petr\u00f3leo suministra energ\u00eda a los motores de combusti\u00f3n di\u00e9sel \u2013 tecnolog\u00eda de conversi\u00f3n \u2013 que forman parte de sistemas tecnol\u00f3gicos como autom\u00f3viles o camiones \u2013 tecnolog\u00edas pasivas\u2013 que proporcionan el servicio final de transportar personas y mercanc\u00edas. El transporte de pasajeros y de mercanc\u00edas mantiene en este nuevo mapa un lugar predominante entre los servicios finales de la energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Conclusiones:<\/h2>\n

\u00bfqu\u00e9 nos dice este nuevo mapa energ\u00e9tico mundial?<\/h2>\n

Los recursos f\u00f3siles y la energ\u00eda nuclear<\/strong> representan el 85% del total de energ\u00eda primaria mientras que la biomasa <\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>un 12% y las energ\u00edas renovables<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> tan solo un 3%. En la reciente \u00e9poca del antropoceno, los combustibles f\u00f3siles siguen siendo la energ\u00eda m\u00e1s empleada por la sociedad
